What information this site collects and what it is used for.
What this notice covers
This notice describes how the site works today. The site is under development and this text will be updated when what the software does changes.
Account information
When you create an account we store your email address, your preferred language and your password in encrypted form — the password is not stored in readable form and nobody at the site can see it. If you verify your phone, we store that number too.
Company information
If you represent a business, we store the business name and whatever you enter in the profile: trading name, website, contact email and phone, address, industry, size, logo and the company description in each language. A company profile is public when that company has published postings.
Verification information
To verify a business we ask for an EIN or a state registration number and, depending on the level, a business address. Our review team uses that information to decide the application and it is not published on the site.
Job postings
A published posting is public by definition: its text, the stated pay, the location and the company are shown to any visitor and may appear in search engines.
Applications
When you apply for a job we store the name, the email address and — if you write them — the phone number and short message you send, together with the posting you applied to and the date. We show that to the employer who owns the posting and to nobody else: it appears on no public page, is not shown to other employers and is not sent to search engines. We also store whether your email address was confirmed at that moment, and we tell the employer.
Your details are copied onto each application
What you type is stored on that application exactly as you sent it. If you later change the address on your account, an application you already sent keeps showing the address you sent it with — the employer has to be able to see what they received. We do not ask for a résumé and we do not accept files.
The status of your application
Every application has a status. It starts as sent, and the employer who owns that posting can mark it reviewed and then closed. We store the status, the date it last changed and which person at that employer changed it. You see the status of your own applications when you open your list of applications; the site does not send you an email or a text message when it changes. Only the employer who owns the posting can change it, and what it means to them is their decision: a closed application does not mean the position was filled.
The version of the posting you applied to is kept
We store which published version of the posting your application belongs to. If the employer rewrites or pauses the posting afterwards, both you and the employer keep seeing the posting title as it was published on the day you applied, not the current text. That reference is internal: it appears on no public page and in no search engine.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details are entered at Stripe and do not pass through or get stored on our servers. We store the record of the purchase and of the promotion it activated.
Technical and security information
To protect the site we keep a record of significant account actions, an identifier for each request, and part of the IP address a request arrives from, along with the counters that limit repeated attempts.
Cookies
The site uses a single cookie, the session cookie, which is needed to keep you signed in. There are no advertising cookies, no tracking cookies and no third-party analytics.
Providers we use
We send email through Mailgun, text messages through Twilio, and process payments with Stripe. When an employer requests a machine translation of a posting, that posting text is sent to a translation service.
What we do not do
We do not sell your information. There is no advertising on the site and no ad networks receive data from these pages.
